Dark Glass Productions is one year old today!
|
Well, it turns out that the blog backup only contained two entries, so I'm afraid I just started it anew. However, today, Dark Glass Productions is officially one year old! It's been quite a year, and I would simply like to thank all of the viewers again. Thank you for taking the time to visit, and for those of you who have stayed with the site throughout the months, I thank you especially. I started the site as just a place for my work to be visible, and I don't think I really expected it to last as long as it has. Sure, there have been ups and downs, and sometimes it feels like a chore to keep the site up... But overall, I do enjoy having it up, and especially enjoy having people here.
Also, I worked on a small game during the last month of school, and I'm not sure whether to continue it or not. It was for a school project and is math related, but I am pleased with how it came out. You can view more info about on the blog.

What the time will do
Well... there's a lot to address in this update, but the most important of which would be have to be the recent downtime observed. No, the site was not taken offline on purpose. Rather, our previous host had failed quite suddenly. I won't go into much detail here, but I was not contacted at all by the hosting company during the downtime... and it is still going on for other sites hosted there. Dark Glass Productions has since moved to SiteGround, and for all intents and purposes that will be our permanent host.
Unfortunately, while nearly everything was backed up, the mysql databases were not. This won't be too big of an issue on DGP main since the blog was the only thing that used mysql. I do have a relatively old backup of the blog, but it's missing the latest entries. Sadly, the word-press site for Flash Point that was hosted on DGP will now be quite gone. I will have to confirm with the owner whether or not he wants to remake it, but it looks like it won't be coming back. There were also several other things that were hosted at DGP that will have to be remade because of the database loss.
With that out of the way, Dark Glass Productions will be one year old on June 25th! And while it has been a slow year, I would just like to take the time to thank all of the viewers who have stuck with the site through this year, and hope to see them through the next year.
I would like to do something special for the one year anniversary, but I'm not entirely sure what that should be. Aside from obvious website tweaks, code cleaning, and maybe more updates that is. If you have any suggestions for things to do, feel free to use the contact form to your left to email them to me.

Server change
|
Dark Glass Productions is currently in the process of changing hosts, several pages may not be working because of this. All issues should be resolved in the next few days.
EDIT: Everything should be resolved now, but feel free to use the contact form if you find something out of whack.

Minor update
|
Just a small update right now, I've completed about half of the blog code (only the comment system remains) and have since gotten an entry up. It'll be updated every week, so make sure to visit for more frequent updates about DGP and our projects.

Well...
|
I just want to apologize again, for the lack of updates here and on any of the projects. I know I said that Origin Point would be worked on, but truthfully... I've done very little on it since the last update, and I'm sorry about that. I really did want to get something done, but it seems that it's having the same problem as Metroid Excursion did in that it's become far too disorganized for a project of it's size, and I've lost my inspiration for it.
Because of this, I'm going to go ahead and freeze the project indefinately. I do want to pick it back up eventually, but it would require a complete rewrite which isn't something I'm looking forward to right now.
With that being said though, I will be making some major changes to it's sub-site so that all of the current material and resources will be available for viewing.
Also, I've made a couple of changes to Dark Glass Productions, namely moving a few projects around, and creating a page for a soon to be started blog.

An update, finally.
|
It's been nearly three months and in that time we've seen summer come and go, school start, and many things happen. Unfortunately, it may seem like I abandonded the site in the process. I can assure you I haven't, but an unfortunate combination of RL events lead to a severe lack of activity.
And that's going to change.
Why? For one, even though Dark Glass Productions wasn't updated with it, I did work on a project this summer that has been completed recently. I present to you all, Tetroid, a combination of Metroid and Tetris. It can be found in the new, Completed Projects section.
Speaking of which, you might have noticed that the layout of the Current Projects page was split into two sections, active and inactive projects. I did this so that it will be easier to distinguish between projects that are actually being worked on, and ones that have been set aside for a bit but not archived.
The Archived Projects page has been merged with the Misc Projects to make room for the Completed Projects page, which is showcasing Tetroid at the moment. With Tetroid complete, work can finally be resumed on Origin Point.

We're open!

Dark Glass Productions is officially complete!
Well...firstly, I'd like to say welcome to Dark Glass Productions. Right now the site contains four projects (two current, one archived, and one misc.) We'd appreciate it if you checked them out when you get a chance to.
While the site is complete, several pages (such as the forum and link page) are not up yet but will be in the near future.
Anyone interested in helping out with one of the (current) projects or the site can feel free to contact us via the contact page.
